2019 Competition

On February 23, 2019, 25 teams from across the United States and Europe competed to solve a pressing issue at the intersection of technology and healthcare: reducing medical errors with the integration of a precision medicine software into an academic medical center. Teams created presentations to address a diverse array of questions ranging from ethics, finance, strategy, change management, and operations. 


The 2019 competition was sponsored by The Jackson Laboratory, 3M Health Health Information Systems, Synpulse, Charles River Associates, Yale Graduate and Professional Student Senate, Yale Center for Biomedical Innovation and Technology. 

The winning teams were:

  • 1st Place ($5,000): Carey Business School, Johns Hopkins University

    • Abhinav Chintakunta, Jeremy LaMaster, Joshua Yang, Nina Udeshi, Vadi Esmailizadeh

  • 2nd Place ($2,000): Simon Business School, University of Rochester 

    • Lohit Korrapati, Dan Silverstein, Christopher Keenan

  • 3rd Place ($1000): Massachusetts Institute of Technology

    • Zoe Wilson, Denton He, Hans Nowak, Jenna Aronson
