On February 27, 2016, 15 teams from along the East Coast competed on the theme of Next-Generation Sequencing for Infectious Disease Diagnostics. Next-gen sequencing is a key focus area for our title sponsor, The Jackson Laboratory, who worked with the case development team to craft a case focused on the go to market strategy for a microbiome diagnostic technology that would advance dramatically the screening of respiratory diseases. As the inaugural year of the Yale Healthcare Case Competition, the event quickly blossomed from the planning committee's initial plans.
The 2016 competition was sponsored by The Jackson Laboratory, Dilworth IP, Boston Consulting Group, Elm Street Ventures, Deloitte, and HealthVenture.
Participating schools included MIT, Yale, University of Connecticut, and Columbia University.
